There are a lot of great reasons to join the Rotary Club of Uxbridge:
Club members have many opportunities for service to others, both locally and internationally. Service programs address such concerns as health care, hunger, poverty, literacy, and the environment. Rotarians experience the fulfillment that comes from giving back to the community.
With more than 35,000 Rotary clubs in over 160 countries, Rotarians gain an understanding of humanitarian issues through international service projects and exchange programs. One of Rotary’s highest objectives is to build goodwill and peace throughout the world.
Rotary was founded on fellowship, an ideal that remains a benefit of membership today. Club members enjoy camaraderie with like-minded people, and club projects offer additional opportunities to develop enduring friendships. Rotary club members who travel have friendly contacts in almost every city in the world.
Diversity in Membership
Rotary clubs are non-political, non-religious and open to all. Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our community and in ourselves.
Each day, our members pour their passion, integrity and intelligence into completing projects that have a lasting impact. Weekly meetings inform members about what is taking place in the community, the nation and the world and motivates them to make a difference.
Team-building, fundraising, public speaking, planning, organization and communication are a sample of the leadership skills that club members can develop. Being a Rotary leader provides further experience in learning how to motivate, inspire, and guide others.
Focus on Youth and Family
Rotary sponsors some of the world’s largest youth exchange, educational exchange, and scholarship programs. Rotary clubs provide innovative training opportunities and mentoring for young leaders and involve family members in a wide range of social and service activities.
Ethics and Integrity
In our personal and professional lives we abide by The Rotary Four-Way Test: Of the things we think, say or do we ask: 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Encouraging high ethical standards and integrity in everything we do is a hallmark of Rotary.
Social activities give Rotarians a chance to let loose and have fun. Every Rotary club and district hosts parties and activities that offer diversions from our busy lives. Conferences, conventions, assemblies, and social events provide entertainment as well as opportunities for service, education and fellowship.
Connecting our Community
A founding principle of Rotary is to meet periodically to enjoy camaraderie and personal interactions with other members. Rotary is where neighbours, friends and problem-solvers share ideas and take action to create lasting change.
