Bill and a few Ontario youth speakers will speak about the Youth To Youth (Y2Y) program that brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous high school students from across Canada together for traditional land-based teachings and cross-cultural exchange, dialogue and relationship building.

Steve will provide an update on the progress of the water project in Laos – an International project our club supports annually.

Mallory and Nikita will each speak about their experiences in Ottawa and at the Ganaraska Forest Centre in the Spring. They will describe how these experiences have impacted their lives and their future plans.

Chris will tell us about herself and her history with the Scarborough club during her Introductory Presentation. Terry will provide his ‘Introductory Presentation 2.0’ as our new President.

Cecilia will speak to members about mental health and the importance of support for those with mental health issues.

Jennifer and Carey will speak to the club about the Barrett Centre of Innovation and Sustainable Urban Agriculture at Durham College. Jennifer will describe the Ajax Urban Farm project, and how the programs connected to food and farming positively impact the local and regional community.

Colleen operates a small compost business in the summer and teaches people how to make high-quality compost. She will speak about compost extracts as an alternative to chemical fertilizers.

Richard will speak about his volunteer experiences with food aid and agricultural development projects in African countries. These experiences, combined with operating farms here and in the US have influenced his thinking on issues related to food systems.

Joyce will explain the Miyawaki Forest technique. These forests grow rapidly, increase both soil and forest-biodiversity, increase forest resilience and reduce maintenance costs. The method involves planting two to four different types of indigenous trees within every square metre, which is ideal for densifying green cover in a small parcel of land.

Alexa will provide club members with a glimpse into her life’s journey. 

Adrienne will speak about the work of the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity and update members on the Charity’s activities.

Bob and Margot will be heading up a film project in the Rolwaling Valley in Nepal in the Fall of 2023, based on the 1971 ‘anti-expedition’ to inspire changes in Western travel and climbing culture. The message is one of responsible travel with an emphasis on eco-tourism.
